Noble Street educators are dedicated to helping students develop knowledge and skills to succeed in college and careers. The Noble educational model is focused on the basics - reading, writing, math and science — with an emphasis on community service and health & fitness. Through enrichment opportunities, students explore interests in the arts, science, health, technology and other areas and develop relationships with teachers and adult volunteers.
Campus principals make most decisions about the curriculum at each campus. All Noble Street campus academic programs include:
- At least one required foreign language
- Regular physical fitness and health instruction
- Single-gender advisory groups, to which students are assigned and remain with the same teacher and peers for four years, focused on helping students and families navigate through high school and college entrance
- Collins Writing Program, which standardizes writing assignments and evaluation of student writing across all classes and incorporates writing throughout the curriculum
Noble Street’s requirements for promotion and graduation underline the academic rigor of the model. Students must:
- Pass all classes each year to be promoted
- Complete required annual community service (at least 40 hours by graduation)
- Pass a physical fitness test
- Earn required enrichment credits through electives and/or after-school and summer activities
Noble Street’s educational model is rigorous and focused on helping students make up for past deficits in education and be ready for college. The school year and school day are longer at Noble campuses in order to achieve this goal. Students receive at least 25% more instructional time in reading and math.
