Summer Experiences Smooth the Path Towards College
This summer, more than 200 Noble students lived on campus and experienced the excitement of college life at 43 of the nation’s most prestigious schools, such as the University of Wisconsin, Princeton University and New York University. Right Angle, a Noble Network program, provided financial support and summer mentors for promising Noble students as they discovered, many for the first time, what it is like to go to college during a summer academic program. Students also participated in the University of Chicago's Collegiate Scholars Program, law programs at the John Marshall Law School and DePaul University, and educational programs at Purdue University and the University of Chicago's Medical School.

Of 311 graduates, 96% of the Class of 2010 will go to college this fall; 83% of these students are the first in their families to go to college.
Noble Honors Ron Manderschied
The Noble Network honored Ron Manderschied for his extraordinary service and dedication at an intimate dinner on August 11. As President of Northwestern University Settlement House, Ron partnered with Michael and Tonya Milkie to found Noble Street. Ron then served as President & CEO of the Noble Network and led fundraising and business operations for Noble's expansion. Ron has retired from the Noble Network and will focus his energy on continuing to lead Northwestern University Settlement House. Ron's vision for Noble and his commitment to Noble's mission were critical to our success and our ability to serve more than 5,100 students this school year.

Noble Students Volunteer in the Black Hills
Fourteen Noble students provided more than 80 hours of service during an amazing and meaningful two week trip in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This opportunity is provided each year through Camp VIDA, a Northwestern Settlement program that has been led by Mr. David Biele, a former Noble Street College Prep teacher, since 2007. This summer’s projects included: protecting and repairing trails, clearing emergency access roads and building a home for a low income Lakota family. At least 40 hours of meaningful community service is required for graduation at all Noble campuses.

Noble Alumni and Students Gain Valuable Work Experience
Current Noble students held meaningful summer internships at corporations and organizations across the city, including: Exelon Corporation, the Chicago Conservation Corps, Northern Trust, and the Chicago Botanic Gardens. The Noble Network is employing 37 alumni and rising seniors at all nine operating campuses, Noble Network Support Team offices and Noble Day Care this summer through the Put Illinois to Work program. Says Noble IT team intern Adriel Ortiz, “I am honored to come back and work for Noble because Noble and the staff have contributed greatly to my life.”
